Alphabet officially joins the elite $3 trillion club.

Alphabet has officially joined the $3 trillion club, rubbing shoulders with Apple and Microsoft while Nvidia shows off at $4.25 trillion. The milestone follows a 32% stock jump this year, fueled by AI excitement and a favorable antitrust ruling. Now a standout in the “Magnificent 7,” Alphabet is outpacing the S&P 500 as investors pile in, banking on AI momentum and hoping the Fed finally trims rates—because, at the moment, Wall Street seems focused on little else.
Musk Drops $1 Billion on Tesla to Tighten His Grip
Elon Musk just snapped up another $1 billion worth of Tesla shares, sending the stock up 6% in a single day. He already controls about 13% of the company but is clearly gunning for more influence as he doubles down on robotaxis, AI, and other passion projects. This buy follows Tesla’s board floating a $1 trillion pay package that could grant him an extra 12% stake if goals are met—on top of a $29 billion “interim” award last month. Musk has been angling for a 25% stake and hinting he might walk if he doesn’t get it. Analysts call the purchase a “vote of confidence,” though it also reads like a bid to juice the stock after Larry Ellison briefly snagged the richest-man title.
Trump Revives Push to End Quarterly Earnings Reports
Trump is again pushing to scrap quarterly earnings reports and have companies report only twice a year. He says it would cut red tape and give CEOs more time to actually run their businesses—or to golf, depending on who you ask. He floated the same idea back in 2018 with no results, and now he’s back on Truth Social complaining that China thinks in centuries while the U.S. fixates on the next three months. Buffett and Dimon have echoed similar concerns, but the SEC still requires quarterly filings, making Trump’s latest pitch more social-media soundbite than policy shift.

Apple Tahoe: Turning Transparency into the Next Big Innovation

Apple just unveiled macOS Tahoe 26—the final major upgrade Intel Mac users will get before those machines head into retirement. The headline feature is a “Liquid Glass” look that makes every menu, button, and toolbar transparent, like your screen just got a Windex polish. Spotlight finally leveled up, ranking results smarter and handling quick tasks like sending emails or starting notes without launching apps. You can also color-code folders to fake desktop order even if your life’s a mess. The flashiest trick: a new Phone app that turns your Mac into an oversized iPhone for calls, voicemail, and even holding your place in customer-service queues while you pretend to work. Live translation rounds it out, offering on-the-fly text, call, and FaceTime translations—mispronunciations included.
PayPal Adds Crypto to One-Click Money Links
PayPal is launching “PayPal Links,” a one-time payment system that lets you send or request cash with a single link—think Venmo for people who still use email. Unlike PayPal Me, Links works both ways and auto-expires after 10 days. The standout feature: upcoming U.S. support for crypto, so you’ll soon be able to move Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoins through PayPal, Venmo, and compatible wallets. After the U.S. rollout, the U.K. and Italy are next in line later this month.

CRISPR Breakthrough Hints at Reversing Down Syndrome
Japanese researchers report that CRISPR gene editing could one day remove the extra chromosome 21 responsible for Down syndrome. In lab experiments, deleting the surplus chromosome made cells behave more typically—boosting brain-development genes and dialing down those tied to metabolism. The Mie University team managed to cut out the extra chromosome in lab-grown cells and even in mature skin cells from people with Down syndrome. It’s still very early research, but it points to a future where trisomy 21 might be edited away entirely.

Strongest Signs Yet of Possible Ancient Life on Mars
NASA’s Perseverance rover has uncovered compelling geological evidence in Mars’ Bright Angel formation (Neretva Vallis) that may suggest ancient microbial life. The rover found clay-rich mudstones filled with organic carbon and minerals like iron phosphate and sulfide—compounds often associated with live organisms on Earth. While scientists caution that non-biological processes could also produce similar features, this represents perhaps the most promising sample yet. Read more

EPA Emissions Rule Fight Heats Up
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has proposed ending its mandatory Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program, which currently requires about 8,000 power plants, refineries, and industrial sites to disclose annual emissions—a move critics say would gut transparency and weaken climate oversight. At the same time, a Senate committee is investigating whether major oil and gas companies secretly lobbied the Trump administration to roll back the EPA’s landmark 2009 “endangerment finding,” the legal basis for regulating greenhouse gases. The twin developments highlight a growing clash between federal regulators and lawmakers over how much industry should reveal—and how far the U.S. will go in scaling back climate protections.
Youth Push Back on Trump’s Fossil Fuel Orders in Court
A group of young climate activists, aged 7 to 25, are suing the Trump administration in federal court over three executive orders that promote fossil fuels, alleging they violate their constitutional rights by undermining their health, safety, and future. The orders declare a national energy emergency, encourage coal expansion, and reduce support for renewable energy—moves the plaintiffs say threaten their lives amid escalating climate impacts. Despite legal challenges and opposition from several states, these youth-led climate cases reflect a growing strategy to force policy accountability through the courts as legislative and regulatory avenues falter. Saks Holiday Lights Return to NYC After a Year Away

Saks Fifth Avenue will relight its iconic holiday display this November after last year’s first-ever blackout in two decades. The pause was blamed on cost-cutting, but with the budget back, so are the dazzling LEDs and choreographed music across from Rockefeller Center—tourist crowds and local eye-rolls included. The famed holiday windows are returning too, because Midtown without its seasonal sparkle just wouldn’t fly.
