Southwest Says Goodbye to Free Bags
Southwest’s iconic “bags fly free” promise is officially over — unless you're loyal, wealthy, or wielding their branded credit card. Starting this week, unless you’re A-List, flying Business Select, or flashing that Southwest card, expect to pay up. Everyone else gets hit with fees, just like every other joyless airline. Years of marketing about “freedom” now boil down to cold, hard baggage math. The airline claims the move will bring in $1.5 billion annually — but also admits it could lose $1.8 billion from angry customers. A bold business strategy: lose more than you earn.
Trump Media Wants $3B to Dive Headfirst Into Crypto
Trump Media & Technology Group is aiming to raise $3 billion for a massive crypto push. The plan? $2 billion in new equity and $1 billion in bonds to load up on Bitcoin and whatever’s trending this week. From Truth Social and NFTs to memecoins, mining, and now even a proposed ETF, they’re chasing every shiny object in the crypto space.
The announcement may drop just in time for a Las Vegas crypto event featuring Don Jr., Eric Trump, JD Vance, and David Sacks — a clear signal that the Trump universe is betting big on turning America into a blockchain playground.
It’s a familiar playbook: raise a mountain of cash, buy Bitcoin, and pray for liftoff — à la MicroStrategy. Trump's crypto portfolio already boasts digital trading cards, oddball coins, and mining ventures. Mix in a bit of fundraising chaos and a VIP gala for token holders, and the result is a spectacle of high-stakes, no-holds-barred capitalism.
Nvidia Keeps Humbling Wall Street, One Quarter at a Time
For the past two years, Nvidia has been putting on a masterclass in outperforming expectations — and making Wall Street look slow to catch up. On average, its earnings have beaten forecasts by 9.8%, with revenue topping estimates by 8.9%. That’s nearly double the S&P 500’s average earnings surprise of just 5%.Out of the last eight quarters, Nvidia missed only once — and even then, it still exceeded revenue projections. While most companies deliver modest surprises, Nvidia storms in with fireworks and a mic drop, turning every earnings call into a victory lap.

Apple Unveils 'Solarium' Update
Apple is gearing up for its boldest redesign since iOS 7 — and it goes by the codename Solarium. Headed to every Apple screen near you — iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and yes, even the Vision Pro headset no one really asked for — this overhaul brings a sleek, bright, glassy aesthetic to the entire ecosystem.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, “Solarium” evokes the vibe of a stylish sunroom — because apparently, your apps deserve a luxury vacation too. Expect Apple to reveal the new look at WWDC 2025, where it’ll dazzle the crowd with translucent vibes while users scramble to locate their Settings app all over again.
Apple Wants Your Face to Unlock the Front Door
Apple is working on a smart doorbell powered by Face ID — think of it as unlocking your iPhone, but now it’s your house. Just glance at the device, and the door opens. Powered by Apple’s Secure Enclave chip, your facial data stays safe and encrypted.
The product could arrive by late 2025 and is expected to integrate with HomeKit and existing smart locks — though Apple may offer its own hardware bundle too. At the heart of it is Apple’s new “Proxima” chip, part of a broader smart home push that includes updated cameras, smart displays, and possibly even a robot arm… because why not?

Starship Fails Again in Fiery Mid-Air Explosion
SpaceX’s Starship met another explosive end on Tuesday — its third mid-air failure to date. The towering 400-foot rocket, designed to one day ferry humans to Mars, didn’t survive reentry. The booster blew up early, Starship started leaking fuel, spun out like a rogue frisbee, and ultimately detonated — again. This marked Test Flight #9, following fiery finales in both January and March. Still, Elon Musk remains optimistic. He labeled the mission an “improvement,” noting the engines shut down as intended and most of the heat shield stayed intact this time.
The FAA is once again investigating. No injuries or ground damage were reported, and according to Musk, more test flights are coming — and soon.
NASA's MAVEN Mission Unveils Key Insight into Mars' Water Loss
NASA's MAVEN (Mars Atmospheric and Volatile Evolution) mission has made a significant breakthrough in understanding how Mars lost its water. After a decade of observations, MAVEN detected a process called "sputtering," where high-energy particles from the solar wind strip away atoms and molecules from Mars' atmosphere. This phenomenon, intensified during solar storms, has contributed to the planet's arid conditions. The findings offer new perspectives on Mars' past habitability and will inform future exploration missions.

First-Ever Spinal Cord Regeneration Therapy Enters Human Trials
A biotech company in China has received approval to begin human trials for a groundbreaking therapy that could reverse spinal cord injuries. This marks the first treatment of its kind to reach this stage, with regulatory green lights from both the FDA and Chinese authorities this week. Developed by XellSmart, the therapy uses pluripotent stem cells—cells capable of transforming into any type needed by the body—to actually regrow damaged neural tissue rather than just repairing it.Globally, over 15 million people suffer from spinal cord injuries, often caused by accidents, falls, or sports. Until now, treatment options were limited to surgery, rehabilitation, and managing expectations. This new approach could finally offer hope for true healing.

Wildfire Smoke from Canada Degrades U.S. Air Quality
Winds have carried smoke from over 100 active wildfires in Manitoba, Canada, into parts of the United States, significantly deteriorating air quality in states like Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, and Illinois. The smoke, consisting largely of particulates from burning vegetation, has led to air quality levels deemed unsafe for sensitive populations. Authorities are advising residents to limit outdoor activities and take precautions to reduce exposure.
U.S. EPA Proposes Removal of Greenhouse Gas Limits on Power Plants
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has drafted a proposal to eliminate regulations limiting greenhouse gas emissions from coal and gas-fired power plants. According to internal documents cited by The New York Times, the EPA argues that emissions from these facilities represent a small, declining share of global emissions and do not significantly harm public health or contribute to climate change. This position contradicts data from the United Nations, which identifies fossil fuels as the primary contributors to global warming. The proposal is part of a broader rollback of climate regulations under the current administration. The EPA has submitted the draft for White House review, with a formal release and public input phase expected in June.

The Dodgers secured a 8–5 victory, with standout performances from their lineup. This game was part of a series that showcases two of baseball's most iconic franchises, reflecting a storied coast-to-coast rivalry. Fans can look forward to more exciting matchups as the season progresses.

Kilauea Volcano Erupts Once More
On Sunday, Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano kicked off its 23rd eruption since December. It launched lava more than 1,000 feet high—think Empire State Building, but way hotter—while molten rock danced across the crater floor and a towering 14,000-foot ash plume billowed into the sky.
According to scientists at the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, there’s no immediate danger to nearby communities. All the action is safely contained within Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park, with the rest of the volcano staying calm and quiet.
