Aman Seeks $2 Billion to Expand Its Ultra-Luxury Hotels

Aman Group—the king of ultra-luxury hotels—is back, asking for $2 billion to keep the dream alive. Apparently, 23 five-star resorts in the pipeline aren’t enough. They’re also doubling down on Aman Residences—homes for those who want to live in a permanent spa retreat. CEO Vladislav Doronin says they’re in talks with investment funds, and the brand has already raked in serious cash. In 2022, Saudi Arabia’s PIF and Cain International handed over $900 million. In 2023, Mubadala Capital and Alpha Wave Ventures added another $360 million. Because if there’s one thing oil money loves, it’s a resort with 24/7 butler service and zero commoners.

Own a Piece of SpaceX—for Just $5K

Investing in private companies isn’t just for billionaires anymore. Platforms like EquityZen and Forge Global have lowered their minimum investment to $5,000, letting everyday investors get a stake in buzzy companies like OpenAI, SpaceX, and Kraken—no kidney sale required. To boost credibility, they’ve partnered with Yahoo Finance, offering data on 100+ pre-IPO firms. Sounds exciting, but don’t get carried away—these investments are high-risk, tough to sell, and easy to regret. Experts recommend consulting a financial adviser before diving in.

StubHub Goes Public

After years of teasing Wall Street and backing out last minute, StubHub is finally going public. 2024 wasn’t exactly a blockbuster—$2.8 million in losses on $1.77 billion in revenue—but they still boasted $8.7 billion in ticket sales and 40 million tickets sold. In capitalism’s playbook, that’s a win. Big investors like Bessemer and Madrone are already in deep, and CEO Eric Baker has plenty at stake. Now, they just need retail investors to buy in—like a Swiftie desperately refreshing for presale tickets.

Musk’s Robot Army Is on the Way—For Real This Time

Tesla is ramping up production of its humanoid robots like it’s gearing up for a sci-fi blockbuster. Elon Musk claims “Optimus” bots are already rolling off the line in Fremont, with a goal of 10,000–12,000 units by 2025. Even hitting 5,000 would be a milestone.

ChatGPT Can Create Art Now

ChatGPT has leveled up—it’s no longer just generating poems and code, but full-blown artwork. OpenAI’s latest update lets it craft detailed (and sometimes bizarre) images from any prompt you throw at it.

This breakthrough comes from GPT-4o, a powerful new system that merges text and image generation into one ultra-smart AI. Gone are the days when ChatGPT handled words while DALL·E made pictures—now, it’s all fused into a single, creative mega-bot.

Tiny Moon, Big Impact

Daphnis, a tiny moon of Saturn just 5 miles wide, is making waves—literally. As it orbits within the Keeler Gap, its gravity disturbs Saturn’s rings, creating stunning ripples.

NASA’s Cassini spacecraft captured an image of this cosmic disruption, giving scientists valuable insights into how the rings and surrounding space dust interact.

James Webb Space Telescope Observes Neptune's Auroras

NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has captured unprecedented images of auroral activity on Neptune. Unlike other giant planets where auroras are typically seen at the poles, Neptune's auroras appear at mid-latitudes, likely due to its unusual magnetic field. This discovery provides new insights into the planet's atmospheric dynamics and magnetic properties. Read more

U.S. Sees Highest Tuberculosis Cases in Over a Decade

Tuberculosis (TB) cases in the U.S. have surged to their highest levels since 2011, with over 10,300 cases reported in 2024—an 8% increase from the previous year. The CDC attributes the rise to increased international travel and migration, as well as other illnesses weakening immune systems and activating dormant infections.

Cases have risen across all age groups in 34 states, with outbreaks particularly severe in Kansas City (up 148%). Alaska and Hawaii reported the highest case rates. TB, a bacterial infection that primarily affects the lungs, spreads through the air and can be fatal if left untreated. Read more

Potential Resurgence of Acid Rain in the U.S. Due to Environmental Rollbacks

Gene Likens, the scientist who first identified acid rain in North America, warns that recent rollbacks on pollution protections by the Trump administration could lead to its return. In the 1960s, Likens discovered rain 100 times more acidic than normal, primarily caused by emissions from coal-fired power plants. The 1990 Clean Air Act amendments significantly reduced this pollution, improving air quality. However, current efforts to weaken environmental regulations may reverse these gains, posing risks to ecosystems and public health. Read more

Revival of Indigenous Cotton Varieties in India for Sustainable Fashion

India's native cotton varieties, such as phuti karpas, were once integral to producing fine textiles like Dhaka muslin. Colonial practices and ecological changes led to their decline, giving way to industrial farming and genetically modified crops that have caused environmental harm. Efforts are underway to revive these indigenous strains, including initiatives like Khamir's work with kala cotton in Kutch and the Trinjan project in Punjab. These programs aim to promote sustainable agriculture, support local economies, and foster ethical fashion supply chains by reintroducing resilient, eco-friendly cotton varieties. Read more

NFL Stars Eye 2028 Olympic Flag Football Debut

The NFL is championing the inclusion of flag football in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, aiming to elevate the sport's global profile. Prominent athletes, including WNBA star Caitlin Clark and tennis legend Serena Williams, are set to discuss this initiative at the NFL's annual shareholder meeting. Notably, NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes has expressed a strong desire to participate, highlighting the opportunity to represent the USA on an international stage. This movement could lead to the formation of an NFL-style "Dream Team" for the Olympic flag football event. Read more

World’s Biggest Sailing Yacht Set to Hit the Seas

The Orient Express Corinthian—a 722-foot luxury sailing yacht that redefines extravagance—will debut in June 2026. Designed by Accor and built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique, this floating palace boasts three towering masts and enough sails to impress even Poseidon.

Onboard, expect 54 lavish cabins, five fine-dining restaurants (including one with a Michelin-starred chef), eight bars, a Parisian cabaret, a spa, a movie theater, and even a recording studio—because billionaires might want to drop an album between deep-tissue massages.
