TikTok Ban… Yet Again?

Trump says a TikTok sale is in the works ahead of the April 5 deadline—because a ban is still on the table in 2025. He claims there’s “tremendous interest” from potential buyers, with Blackstone reportedly eyeing a role in a U.S.-friendly bid. Trump wants TikTok to “stay alive.” Congress wants it de-Chinatized. And TikTok? Just waiting to see who gets custody this time.

Hyundai’s Big U.S. Move (Kind of)

Hyundai is investing $20 billion to expand its U.S. operations, including a $5.8 billion steel plant in Louisiana. The facility will produce 2.7 million metric tons of steel annually and create 1,400 jobs. At the White House announcement, Trump, Hyundai Chairman Euisun Chung, and Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry exchanged praise. Chung called it Hyundai’s largest U.S. investment to date, while Trump credited tariffs for making it happen.

Musk Merges with… Musk

Elon Musk has officially merged his AI startup, xAI, with his social media platform, X, in what amounts to a $33 billion stock swap—essentially with himself. The move values xAI at $80 billion and X at $33 billion. Musk calls it a master plan to unite “data, models, compute, distribution, and talent.” Investors like a16z, Sequoia, Fidelity, and Saudi royalty are on board—whether they fully grasp what just happened or not.

AI Digs Deep

Earth AI, a mining startup driven by algorithms and ambition, has uncovered a treasure trove of minerals—copper, cobalt, gold, silver, and more—hidden in Australia’s untapped regions. Founded by Roman Teslyuk, a Ukrainian PhD student in Sydney, Earth AI started as a grad school project. Teslyuk’s idea was simple: use Australia’s vast archive of geological data—millions of data points—and feed it into an AI that could learn from past mining failures. His logic? If no one else is using the data, let AI do it better than traditional methods. Initially, investors weren’t sold on the idea of “trusting the algorithm,” especially in a conservative industry. But now, with Earth AI actually making discoveries, the once-rejected innovator is being seen as a visionary.

Apple Unveils New Vision Pro AR Glasses: A Step Toward the Future of Computing

Apple has officially introduced its Vision Pro augmented reality (AR) glasses, marking the company’s boldest move into the world of immersive technology. These high-tech glasses combine virtual and augmented reality in a seamless experience, with the goal of revolutionizing computing. The Vision Pro boasts cutting-edge features such as a 3D interface, spatial audio, and high-definition displays, all controlled via eye movements and hand gestures. The glasses are expected to launch in 2024 and could signal a major shift in how we interact with technology, blending the physical and digital worlds. Tech enthusiasts are already calling it Apple’s next game-changing product.

UK Takes Over Mars Mission, Replaces Russia

Airbus is stepping in for Roscosmos on the long-delayed ExoMars mission after Russia’s Ukraine invasion made the partnership untenable. The UK aerospace giant will now build the lander that delivers the Rosalind Franklin rover to Mars—the first to drill two meters deep in search of life (or something more exciting than red dust). Originally a Russia-backed mission set for 2020, ExoMars has now shifted to a ESA + Airbus collaboration, with NASA handling the rocket. Launch is set for 2028, landing in 2030—assuming no more shake-ups.

NASA's James Webb Telescope Captures the Most Distant Galaxy Ever

NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has made history by capturing the most detailed images yet of a galaxy 13.5 billion light-years away—just 300 million years after the Big Bang. This discovery is helping scientists understand the early stages of galaxy formation. The images offer a clearer view of the cosmos than ever before, revealing a host of distant stars and structures never before seen. This marks another major milestone for the Webb Telescope, which is continuing to unlock secrets about the origins of the universe and its evolution.

Japan Creates a Better Plastic

Researchers at Japan’s RIKEN Center have developed a revolutionary plastic that dissolves in seawater—no microplastics, no pollution, no synthetic waste in your sushi. Made from ionic monomers and a common food additive, this recyclable and biodegradable material is strong, flexible, and even breaks down into fertilizer. It can be customized to mimic hard plastic, soft rubber, or anything in between, offering a real alternative to traditional plastics—unlike so-called “biodegradable” options still polluting our oceans.

UK Government Streamlines Environmental Regulations Amidst Mixed Reactions

The UK government has announced plans to simplify environmental regulations to expedite development projects, including housing and major infrastructure like airports. Key changes involve appointing a single "lead regulator" for swift environmental decisions and streamlining permits. While officials argue this balances economic growth with environmental protection, wildlife groups express concern that it might undermine individual environmental safeguards. Read more

Minnesota's Swift Action Prevents Garbage Collection Crisis

St. Paul's Mayor declared a three-day state of emergency to allow FCC Environmental to begin garbage collection services, averting a public health crisis. This decision followed disputes over FCC's maintenance site, which the City Council had blocked. The emergency measure aims to ensure timely waste management while addressing concerns over FCC's operational facilities. Read more

Kansas City Chiefs Contemplate Stadium Move

The Kansas City Chiefs are evaluating the possibility of leaving Arrowhead Stadium, their home since 1972, to build a new stadium costing up to $2 billion. A decision on the future of the team’s venue is expected by summer 2025. The Chiefs are considering this move as part of their long-term plans to maintain competitive advantage and enhance fan experience. The new stadium would represent a major investment and change for the team and its fans.

Jeff and Lauren's Humble $500 Million Wedding

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are set to marry this summer in Venice, likely aboard his $500 million megayacht—because a traditional wedding just doesn’t seem extravagant enough. The lavish plans have drawn criticism, with many labeling the affair as “morbidly wealthy.” While Bezos has denied rumors of a $600 million celebration in Aspen, let’s face it—when your wedding comes with its own marina, the cost is hardly the issue.
